PDA Package Installer Maker
Lunatech Research's PDA Package Installer Maker (PPIM) is an application which allows software developers to create self-installing software packages for the Newton. The PDA Package Installer Maker has a nice and simple user interface and is very easy to work with. The current version of the PPIM works only with Macintosh but there are plans for a Windows PC version.

The structure of the PPIM:
The PPIM uses a document structure to create new, or edit existing installers. The user can create a new installer using the RNewS menu item from the RFileS menu, and can open an existing package using the ROpen...S menu item from the RFileS menu.

The Stages of the PPIM:
The PPIM uses three stages to create a new PDA Package Installer. These three stages all cover a different part of an installer and the user can switch between them using the PopUp menu on top of each document.
% RStartUp DialogS
% RPackagesS
% RInstaller PartsS

Every document opens with the RStartUp DialogS stage. In this stage, the user can create a custom startup screen for a PDA Package Installer (i.e. company and/or product logo). The startup screen is a simple picture (color and B&W) and it will be centered within the StartUp Screen region in the startup dialog of a PDA Package Installer.

The RPackage StageS enables the user to add the desired packages to the installer set. Using the RAdd...S, RChange...S and RRemoveS buttons you can modify the list as desired.

The RInstaller PartsS stage. enables the user to construct package parts. A package part is a set of packages that form one group (and thus, one line in the custom installer list). The installer parts are listed by name and have little arrows in front of it. These arrows work just like the ones in the Finder. To see which items are part of the shown installer part, hit the arrow, and the list will expand.
